NDE, Inc. performs charpy and izod impact testing of metals up to 240 ft-lbs.  As with other mechanical tests, our capabilities include the machining of test specimens.  By far the most common impact testing method used today for metals is the charpy V-notch impact test.  Pictured to the right is a machined charpy specimen, a standard impact tester, and a computer controlled chiller unit capable of maintaining temperatures down to –50 degrees centigrade for reduced tempurature impact testing. Temperatures down to –196 degrees centigrade may be achieved through the use of liquid Nitrogen.
